Project Pretty Little Cravings

Few years ago, I fell in love at first sight. It was like heavens thoughtful act that we met at the right time. I was in need of a breather and a cozy nook to relieve the stress I was in. I heard retail therapy also works at that time, but I’m pinching some for a future big event then. So, I was really happy to be spending quality down time with this new found love, authentic budget-friendly, Swedish home decor store — Ikea. Oh, the days I spent just wandering around Ikea store, no matter how I already memorized the interior maze still brings about a gratified feeling.

When I finally settled down and owned a place to decorate and fill with all the gorgeous furnitures and fixtures, Ikea was not available readily in the Philippines. And I cringe at how expensive Manila resellers market these items.

Fast forward to 2013, I  decided to start a little project, called Pretty Little Cravings on Instagram. We were furnishing our newly turned-over condo unit and I just had to ship few items from Singapore where we were based. I figured out I can save on shipping cost if I take some orders from people who were just like me, eager to get their hands on some few pieces from Ikea. The project was well received and up until now, I still can’t believe that a lot of our avid followers are also returning customers.

Know Your Allies and Secret Friend

Lunar New Year is just around the corner and while I’m all excited for the holidays, some are extremely focusing on what good luck may bring on this Year of the Dragon. I’m not a firm believer but I hope a little feng shui will help attract some positive qi on my life this year. Some say for the Year of the Water Dragon, everything is magnified tenfold.

Miles for Smiles : Run for Cleft Care

Earlier today, we ran for a cause – to make a child smile. It does take time, sweat and total commitment to make it to the finish line. I’m supposed to run for 3k but eventually got lost along the way and instead finished a 5k leg. That was an interesting event turn out.

It was nice seeing old faces and meeting new ones. The most rewarding thing of all, is seeing how excited those kids beneficiaries are. Kudos to Noordhoff Craniofacial Foundation Philippines, Inc. (NCFPI) for making it possible and reaching out to share the news about free comprehensive cleft care. Now, every children with “bingot” or cleft palates and craniofacial abnormalities can smile for a brighter future.

Back to School!

Lately, I’ve been caught up with the idea of going back to school. Who wouldn’t love being at school again when there’s something new to learn and new people to meet? You get years of wisdom after college and you think you can ace the exam easily now that you want to go back.

I have been inspired with so many people who went through another course entirely different from their field and took another shot to fulfill a dream.

I have high respect especially to those working double shift and breadwinners, yet they still aspire for education and success.

What course am I considering to get myself into is another confusion since I have so many on my list. I wanted to take a short course in designing, or anything about graphics and computer stuff, then there’s interior design and fashion design and my newest desire to take law. Did I mention I have a lot on my list? They aren’t completely related I know, so that seems to make it more complicated to choose only one. Continue reading

The Latest Hollywood Celebrity Gossip

Early this morning I got my dose of entertainment from Hollywood celebrity gossip.

I read about Lindsay Lohan getting fired from her latest film. It’s not that I’m a big fan but poor girl, it’s been ages since I last saw her decent photo or even heard an upcoming movie project she’s been doing. The current celeb news is that she stole a $35,000 Rolex. Of course her camp denied it.

Edward, Bella and Jacob were hot items too, as the 3rd installment on the Twilight Saga, Eclipse creates a buzz all over town. I can’t wait to see the movie too. Although, I’m yet to finish reading the New Moon book, the upcoming film made me more sleepless. Continue reading

Philippine General Election 2010

Are you ready for the upcoming election? It will be just nearly a month of waiting.

The automated 2010 National Elections is a huge breakthrough to the electoral system of the Philippines. Almost everyone seemed to doubt the success of the voting process. Just as questionable as the issues concerning the current administration and the running political parties.

COMELEC’s official website provides sample ballots which are available for download. The government reiterates the importance of using the sample ballots to anyone who wish to practice the shading procedure if not to participate in mock voting in selected barangays.

In addition, a voter can now go to the Commission on Elections website and find their designated precinct number at the COMELEC Continuing Registration. The database though, do not include the registration record made last December 21, 22, 23, 28 and 29, 2009. Continue reading
